The
South
Jersey Wheelmen
is a cycling club that was organized in 1979. It's
original purpose was to serve the needs of the recreational
and touring cyclist, and it continues with that purpose today.
The club is based in the Vineland area, but organized rides
extend throughout the regions of Cumberland, Gloucester and
Salem
counties New Jersey.

and organized by club

Allen
Jackson.
Artistic design was by club member Steve Signorile.
The "Jersey Devil" is a traditional
part of South Jersey folklore and mascot for our
annual

Club
Meetings
are held at 6:30 pm on the first Wednesday
of each month except December. The location alternates between
Gloucester County Library (even no. months) and the Millville
Library (odd no. months). Click above on "Club
Meetings" for directions and more information.
Summertime
weekly fun rides |

Convention |
During
the summer months, the club organizes weekly rides every
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. Besides being
posted on the website, the rides are posted in advance
in the newsletter, The Spoke 'n Word. The distance and
difficulty of each ride are noted and an effort is made
to serve each member's ability. |
Our Convention
is an organized biking vacation. Included is a brief
get together to discuss club concerns supported
with plenty
of popcorn and beverages. Last year the convention was
in Ocean City, Md.This
year we are on the way
to Cape May. Gary
Pilling and Al Jackson are putting together a unique
weekend. This will be a great time for the whole
family whether you are the cycling or the non cycling
family member. |
Annual Century Rides
Each
year, the club sponsors three organized rides:
Get Ready Metric
- held in June, it offers two 50 Kilometer loops.
Bridgeton Zoo Ride - held in August can be a maximum
of 100 miles.
Jersey Devil Century - our big ride, offers three
loops totaling 100 miles

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Vermont
Trip : This
year (2007) our Vermont trip will August 16 - 19. As we all
know, this is a great trip at a really great price. Our 2006
group was smaller than usual but we still had a terrific time.
We do hope more will attend this year. More is always merrier!

2. Adopt
a Highway Clean Up: Start
9:00 am at Coombs Farm Rt 77, south of Pole Tavern Circle
(intersection of Rt 77 and Rt 40) at mile marker -10.
Clean up equipment provided. Wear boots, pants, long
sleeves.
