22nd
Year! Inspite of the new name and start
location,
this is still the same basic route as the former Bridgeton Zoo
Century with some route inprovements and additions.
Parking, registration and the ride begin at Green
Branch
Park,
Pittsgrove,
New
Jersey.
The route is mostly on the scenic rural roads of Salem, Cumberland
and Gloucester Counties. The terrain is flat to slightly rolling
- good for any level
rider!
Ride it fast or slow, the choice is yours. Along the way there
are a few stores and delis on or near the route.
Start anytime between 8 am
to 10 am and ride at your own pace. The first half has two route
choices, a 27
mile loop and a 52
mile loop.
The 52 mi loop takes you through Alloway, Quinton and historic
Greenwich. These loops no
longer go
to the Bridgeton Zoo. The second half has a 24
mile and a 49
mile loop.
Combined with the first half this gives you a 76 or 101 mile
option for the day. The
49 mile loop takes
you north
to
Mullica
Hill and back. This
loop
has some
challenging
hill climbs between miles 20 to 35. All loops bring you back
to Green Branch Park where we will have fruit, baked goods, hot
dogs and plenty of liquids waiting
for
you under a cool pavilion. We will have two water stops on each
of the 52&49 mile loops and one on each of the 27&24
mile loops.
Cue sheets, painted road markings
and sag wagon services are provided. In addition to food, the
entry
fee includes a give away item. In past years these have included
sew-on patches, high quality water bottles, first aid kits,
and tube patch kits. This year we are considering several
new items. Fee for South Jersey Wheelmen members is $10.00
which includes
the give away item. Club T-Shirts are available for purchase
at the ride. Come out and enjoy!
