We have four rides setup for this convention.
Friday’s ride is 27 miles from Seaford out to charming Georgetown. The roads will be a mix of medium traffic to quiet farm roads. We will leave the hotel at 4 pm sharp. We will hustle along at a steady C+ pace to give us a little more time to sight see around Georgetown.
Saturday we have a 37 and a 53 mile ride. Both rides are together for the first 26 miles through some interesting towns and “out in the country” back roads. During this portion we will be ferried across the Nanticoke River on the small three car Woodlands ferry. I think everyone will find this to be really cool. Several miles after the ferry will be another interesting and picturesque moment as we ride our bikes over the very high Sharptown bridge. At 26 miles the short route breaks off eventually retracing the first 7 miles back to the hotel. The longer ride will continue into Federalsburg for a short break at their pleasant community park along a local creek. After Federalsburg we will cruise through farm country to the outskirts of Bridgeville about 8 miles north of Seaford. From here the roads are fairly straight with good shoulders. This will be a time when faster riders can open up to get in that good workout.
Sunday’s ride is a short 23 mi route passing by the sight of the “fairly” famous Punkin Chunkin contest. The event itself is scheduled for Nov 5-7. I doubt if any pumpkins will be flying around but we might want to tighten those helmet straps a little.
I will have printed cue sheets and maps for everyone but if you would like a sneek peek click below.
